In my role of Vice President of the Rockwell Automation Charitable Corporation and State & Community Relations, I led several major multimillion dollar, multi-year projects in which Rockwell Automation and its strategic partners developed interactive STEM-related exhibits, such as the ToyMaker 3000: An Adventure in Automation ($3.5M) exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago. To build the factory automation exhibit, I worked with numerous corporations and Rockwell prime subcontractors to coordinate cash and in-kind contributions of engineering products and services. Goals of the exhibit were to demonstrate to the general public how their everyday products are manufactured & delivered to them through factory automation; and to encourage young people to enter STEM-related careers. I was able to manage and resolve several conflicts by keeping the end goal in sight, and by consistently & clearly communicating that goal to all the stakeholders. While the ToyMaker 3000 exhibit is currently closed, its legacy still draws young people to discover the joys of engineering.
